Matteo Cairoli will be the cutting edge of Iron Lynx’s line-up for the championship battle in the European Le Mans Series 2024 season. The driver from Como, who finished third in the LMGTE Am class in 2023 with the team from Cesena, will now compete in the LMP2 class, driving the Oreca-Gibson he tested in Portimao back in October when the season ended. Matteo, who became a Lamborghini Factory Driver during the winter, will drive their LMDh in the IMSA championship and the LMP2 of Iron Lynx – their support team – with Jonas Reid and Maceo Capietto. Iron Lynx, who will collaborate with Proton Competition for the occasion, is determined to win the title so that it can be invited to the 2025 edition of the 24h of Le Mans. The 2024 season of the European Le Mans Series will be live streamed in Italy on MS Motor TV, channel 229 on Sky.
Matteo Cairoli
“I’m really happy to continue racing in the European Le Mans Series. It’s a championship where I’ve always felt at ease, and to be able to compete there again with Iron Lynx is a real honor for me. I want to thank Lamborghini Squadra Corse for allowing me to participate in this project, which will surely give us a great point to start from for our journey in the prototype world. Collaborating with Proton Competition gives us a technical guarantee together with a lot of joy, as I’ve already raced and won with them, just like thinking about my two young but very fast teammates, Jonas and Maceo. I can’t wait to jump into the car”.
