Matteo Cairoli returns to the FIA WEC with Iron Lynx in 2025

In 2025, Matteo Cairoli will return to the starting grid of the FIA World Endurance Championship: the Como-based driver will be at the start of the world championship dedicated to endurance racing for the seventh time, a series where he debuted in 2017 and which has seen him protagonist on many occasions and classes. In this new chapter of his career, Matteo will wear the colors of Iron Lynx in the LMGT3 class, thus continuing his collaboration with the Italian team for the third consecutive year.

For the occasion, Cairoli will take to the track with the Mercedes AMG LMGT3 number 60; a new car for Matteo, who will have to exploit his great ability to adapt and his experience driving a GT car to feel at ease from the start. Furthermore, the Como native will have the task of bringing the Stuttgart-based company back to the prestigious Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, where the German brand has been missing for over 25 years. Matteo will be able to count on two teammates of the caliber of Claudio Schiavoni and Matteo Cressoni, two drivers with great experience in the world of GT racing – thus composing an all-Italian lineup.

This is a crew that has already been tested in the past, given their previous participation in the 2023 edition of the European Le Mans Series with Iron Lynx, which ended in third place in the LMGTE class. Furthermore, the three drivers participated together in the last race of the endurance world championship last year, finishing the 8 Hours of Bahrain in fourth place in the category.

Matteo will therefore take part in all eight seasonal events of the series, including his home round on April 21, the 6 Hours of Imola, and the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans from June 15 to 16 – a race that the Como native will tackle for the ninth consecutive time.

The 2025 season of the FIA World Endurance Championship will however kick off in Qatar, at the Lusail circuit: after a two-day prologue from February 21 to 22, the first round of the championship will take place the following week, with Cairoli racing in the 1812km of Qatar on February 28.

Matteo Cairoli

“I am delighted to return to competing full-time in the FIA WEC: it is undoubtedly one of the most competitive championships in the world, and it is fantastic to be able to take part in this series again. Iron Lynx is a very competitive team, and I am delighted to race alongside them for the third consecutive year. With Claudio and Matteo we have already achieved excellent results in the past years, and although the Mercedes AMG LMGT3 is new for all of us, I am sure that we will be able to get a lot of satisfaction during this season. I can’t wait to get on track in Qatar and start this new adventure”.
