Amazing performance from Matteo Cairoli in the “NIMEX 47. DMV 4-Stunden-Rennen”, race valid for the NLS endurance championship, entirily hosted by the Nordschleife track. The Italian driver crossed the finish line in second place at the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 R of Rutronik Racing together with Julien Andlauer, after snatching the pole-position.
Cairoli qualified on pole with a timing of 9:06.584 – despite the low temperatures and the tricky conditions of the track, as the weather conditions were pretty variable – on the 24,358 kilometres circuit, that sees the iconic Nordschleife connected to its modern part.
Andlauer, his teammate, took the wheel of the car for the start of the NL2: the French driver lost some positions at the beginning of the race due to the choice of starting with slick tires, which were still the best option for the long run. Cairoli jumped in the car during the 16th lap: with great pace, and another pit-stop on lap 23, he was able to bring the 21 Porsche back in the podium zone, as he was able to stay out of trouble also during the neutralization phases.
The race was very useful for Matteo and its team, Rutronik Racing, who ultimately jumped on the second step of the podium, to prepare for the prestigious but challenging 24 Hours of the Nürburgring, whose lights will go off between the 20th and the 21st of May.
Matteo Cairoli: “We’re satisfied with this result, as we showed a great speed potential. The team was very good in preparing the car, mostly for the wet conditions, and we were able to prove it with the pole-position during the qualifying round, the first for the Rutronik Racing team in the NLS championship. During the race we used our good pace to gain back positions and get in the podium zone. We want to adjust the set-ups of the car a little more, mostly for the dry conditions, but we’ve already collected a great result for the 24 Hours that we will race here in May.“.
